Inside the Micro — Small Pad, Big Performance

Inside the Micro — Small Pad, Big Performance

Small pads usually sit on the side lines — backup foam dragged to the crag to sit on or eat lunch off.

The Micro isn’t that.

It’s a compact landing pad built to the same standard as our full-size models — scaled for precision, not reduced for cost.
At just 1.2 kg, it’s light enough to carry anywhere yet dense and durable enough to have a real impact on your set-up.

Design & Intention

The Micro started with a simple question: what if sit pads were built to the same quality as big ones?

Many small pads fail to be used because they’re treated as accessories — thin foam, soft shells, stitched to a small size, and low cost.
Slaphappy Micro reverses that logic: main-pad quality, scaled down for adaptability.

  • Foam: 25 mm of UK-made, cross-linked closed-cell foam with 30 % recycled content.

  • Shell: 1000D nylon base and Cordura® HP landing deck — abrasion-resistant, water-repellent, and reinforced at the corners.

  • Hardware: YKK® zips for long-term reliability in dirt, cold, and moisture.

  • Weight: 1.2 kg

  • Size: 100 × 60 × 2.5 cm

Each one is built in our Lake District workshop, using the same thread, process, and QC as our full pads.

What It’s Built For

Slaphappy Micro is a sit-start pad — designed for true setup adaptability.

It fits where full pads can’t, and makes landings safer where space is tight.

  • Sit-starts and low traverses — when a big pad blocks your movement.

  • Tight terrain — under roofs, or between boulders.

  • Gap coverage — bridges seams or connects multiple pads into one stable surface.

  • Travel sessions — when weight, space, or simplicity matter most.

Used right, a small pad can be more useful than a misplaced large one.

When to Use It

  • Solo sessions — lighter carry, faster setup.

  • Lowball support — moveable coverage for small drops and sit starts.

  • Gap covering — locks seams and evens out slopes.

  • Everyday carry — compact enough to live in the van or boot full-time.

It’s not a replacement for a full pad — it’s the small pad that makes a landing system complete.

What Makes It Special

Every detail serves performance.

  • Reinforced corners resist drag, folding, and ground friction.

  • Full 1000D construction — nylon shell and Cordura® deck throughout.

  • YKK® hardware and high-tension nylon thread on all load points.

  • PU back-coating + DWR finish keep moisture out and slow foam degradation.

The result is a pad you’ll actually use — one that handles years of compression cycles, grit, and weather without complaint.

Small Pad, Big Impact

The Micro exists for the spaces between — the sit-starts, seams, and awkward landings.

Scaled down, not stripped down.
Light enough to carry anywhere.
Strong enough to matter where it counts.
